Each year the District Educational Improvement Council, comprised of parents, teachers, administrators, community members, local business representatives and district leaders, develops two academic calendar options. Comal ISD is asking parents, staff and students to provide feedback regarding their preferred choice for the 2025-2026 academic calendar.
The survey is available now through December 17.
While there are a few differences between the two calendar options which are explained below, they have the same spring break, March 9-13, and a two-hour early release on the Friday, Dec. 19, before the holiday break.
Differences
School Start Dates
- Option A - School begins Tuesday, Aug. 19.
- Option B - School begins Tuesday, Aug. 12. Starting earlier gives students five extra days to learn and cover more Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
Number of Summer Staff Development Days before school starts
-
- Option A - Staff receives 10 staff development days before school starts.
- Option B - Staff receives 5 staff development days before school starts.
Please note: Comal ISD follows the spring break schedule of its college dual credit partners.
