The Comal Independent School District will open enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year on Tuesday, July 21. This year’s student enrollment will be completed solely online with no paperwork or trips to the campus required.
Specifically, enrollment for returning students begins Tuesday, July 21, and enrollment for new students to the district begins Tuesday, July 28. The first day of school is Tuesday, Aug. 25.
This year’s enrollment for all students, pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, will occur through a new parent portal called Skyward. This new portal will provide parents with access to their child’s school information including grades, class schedules, attendance and more.
Parents of students who were enrolled in Comal ISD for the 2019-2020 school year will receive an email from Skyward with a link to the Skyward Family Access portal providing directions for account setup and enrollment. As in previous years, proof of residency documents will be required as well as a child’s updated immunization record if updated from last year.
Parents who are new to the district, should complete a new student pre-enrollment form in order to receive notifications regarding 2020-2021 enrollment. Prior to new student enrollment on July 28, parents new to the district will receive an email with directions concerning setting up a Skyway Family Access account. New students being enrolled must have the following documents in order to complete enrollment: proof of residency, immunization record, unofficial transcript or report card from previous school and birth certificate or social security number.
In addition, parents received a pre-committal survey asking them to choose which method of instruction they would like their child to receive – either on-campus instruction or remote learning. This was a non-binding decision with a final decision being required on Aug. 11.
