Oct. 5, 2021 - Free flu shots will be available for all Comal ISD students, ages 4 years and older, on Monday, Oct. 11, from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Canyon High and Smithson Valley High.
Parents can choose a time slot at either location and sign up at one of these links:
Canyon High Flu Shot Clinic | Smithson Valley Flu Shot Clinic
Both clinics will be located in the cafeteria of the schools.
Open the Consent Forms link and download a form to sign. Bring the consent form to the flu shot clinic. An adult must be present with each student who is 17 years or younger. Please arrive no later than 5 minutes before your time slot.
Signing up for a clinic is not required, but it will help the district plan to have enough vaccine and staff available at each location.
Participants are asked to bring an insurance or Medicaid card, if you have one. However, shots are free, there will be no out-of-pocket charges for insured or uninsured students.
Reduce the Risk
It’s important to get a flu shot this fall. Not only will your child reduce the risk of catching the flu, but they also will help conserve health care resources during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Like the coronavirus, you can take simple steps to help reduce the spread of the flu:
- Cover coughs and sneezes.
- Wash hands often with soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.
- Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth.
- Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with viruses that cause flu.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- If you become sick, stay home and limit contact with others.
If you have questions about the clinics, call the Student Support Call Center, Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., at 830-221-2694.
