If the principal determines that a student’s grooming or clothing violates the school’s dress code, the student will be given an opportunity to correct the problem at school and return to the classroom. If the problem cannot be corrected at school, the campus administration will work with the student and a parent to obtain an acceptable change of clothing for the student in a way that minimizes the loss of instructional time. Repeated or severe offenses may result in more serious disciplinary action in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
The principal, in cooperation with the sponsor, coach, or a person in charge of an extracurricular activity, may regulate the dress and grooming of students who participate in the activity. Students who violate dress and grooming standards established for such an activity may be removed or excluded from the activity for a period determined by the principal or sponsor and may be subject to other disciplinary action, as specified in the Student Code of Conduct. This includes UIL activities or other special functions. [See FO series].
Students in attendance as spectators are expected to dress in good taste. Exceptions will be permitted for bona fide religious reasons. School activities may provide exceptions to parts of the dress code (i.e. theme weeks).
