Sept. 26, 2022 - The Comal Independent School District is welcoming its new executive director of safety and security, Mario De La Rosa, this week. With 27 years of experience both in law enforcement and in schools, De La Rosa brings his expertise as a field agent and an educational leader to the district.
In fact, the new executive director comes to Comal ISD from the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District where he served in the same role since 2018, and he was previously the director of safety & security for Round Rock ISD.
“We are excited to welcome Mr. De La Rosa to Comal ISD,” said Mandy Epley, acting superintendent. “He will continue our safety and security initiatives which focus on preventing and mitigating as many issues as we can so that our students feel safe and are able to reach their full potential.”
His law enforcement experience began as a U.S. border patrol agent followed by an extended time with U.S customs and the department of homeland security as an ICE criminal investigator.
De La Rosa is accustomed to communicating with parents and coordinating with multiple law enforcement and emergency agencies during critical situations, and he looks forward to working with and getting to know the Comal ISD community.
Welcome, Mr. De La Rosa!
