Aug. 25, 2023 - The Comal ISD Board of Trustees honored the Smithson Valley High School state golf honorees at its board meeting last night. The SVHS Boys Golf team won the silver medal at 2023 State UIL 5A state tournament while Sayers Allen won the bronze medal in the girls tournament.
Members of the SVHS Boys Golf team are Cole Cantu, Ryan Griff, Anniston McIlwain, Aiden Page, Zach Seader, Rowan Rankin and Brayden Wambles. Griff was named to the San Antonio Express-News super team, and head coach Jason Pape was named the Boys Golf Coach of the Year by the newspaper. The Rangers assistant coach is Brooklyn Sutton.
The Rangers won the team silver medal, finishing six strokes behind the winning team.
Allen was a finalist for the Girls Golfer of the Year honor by the Express-News and named to the Super Team.
