November 7, 2023 - In its second year as a state finalist, the Davenport High School Wolf Band and Color Guard placed sixth in the State 4A UIL Marching Band competition, November 1, in the Alamodome, and its percussion ranked first overall.
From the 26 bands that qualified for the state competition, 10 advanced to the finals, including DHS which was named the 2023 4A UIL Area E Champions on October 21.
Now in its fourth year, the band continues to garner attention and grow in numbers. A great example of its success is the percussion section which started with only three members in 2020, and today includes 24 students.
Lead by Tyler McClendon, associate band director, the percussion section rehearses often and performs for various community and district events.
