Four Comal ISD Students Named National Merit Scholars

June 18, 2024 - Five Comal ISD students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation with four being named National Merit Scholars and one named as National Merit Finalist.

A Finalist is named a Scholar after being matched with a National Merit scholarship. The scholarship matching process continues through the summer. Of the 15,000 finalists, just under 8,000 become Scholars.

The 2024 National Merit Scholars for Comal ISD

  • Trajan Falk from Smithson Valley High School. Falk won a corporate-sponsored merit scholarship from USAA. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin to study mechanical engineering.
  • Dakota Fisher from Memorial Early College High School. Fisher won a college-sponsored merit scholarship through Texas A&M University where she will attend and study biomedical sciences. Her scholarship was officially announced on June 5.
  • Charleston Hogue from Davenport High School. Hogue is a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship winner. He plans to attend Texas A&M University to study economics.
  • Kumar Kharod from Davenport High School. Kharod is also a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship winner. He plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin with a double major in biomedical engineering in the Plan II Honors program.

The 2024 National Merit Finalist for Comal ISD 

  • Parker Young from Hill Country College Preparatory High School who plans to attend the Colorado School of Mines and study computer science.
