As the spring semester kicks into full gear, Comal ISD students continue to compete for awards, titles and honors outside the typical school day. Here's just a sample of accomplishments from this past weekend.

After competing every year in the final round of the district competition, eighth grade student Rowen Hamilton claimed the title for Comal Speaks this year.

As the district continues to celebrate Career and Technical Education (CTE) month, students involved in CTE organizations such as SkillsUSA showcase their abilities and knowledge at area contests.

After two qualifying tournaments hosted by the Comal Independent School District at Canyon Lake High School, 14 district teams advanced to the next level of FIRST Lego League competition.

Almost one year ago this month, Spring Branch Middle School teacher and coach, Tyler Clements, was named our Secondary District Teacher of the Year. On February 11, he was surprised with the KENS 5 Credit Human EXCEL Award for Comal ISD. Congratulations Coach Clements for this amazing honor!

Through hard work, determination and teamwork, the freshman cheer team from Smithson Valley High School pulled off a big upset and earned the title of NCA National Champions.
