Transportation
Riding the big yellow school bus is a rite of passage for thousands of students across the United States. Comal ISD’s Transportation Department covers 589 square miles, five counties and 31 schools, which translates into 21,000 miles and 2,200 gallons of fuel a day.
Safety is the #1 priority when it comes to riding a Comal ISD school bus.
What Parents & Students Need to Know
- Statistics show the most dangerous time for students who ride the school bus is before entering or after exiting the bus.
- Bus stops are determined by the environment and age of students. The Transportation Department staff attempts to place every bus stop at a location with reasonable safety assurances for students.
- Parents must assume responsibility for their students traveling back and forth from home to the bus stop.
- Students are expected to be at the bus stop five minutes before the scheduled bus arrival time.
