Seventeen Comal ISD students wrapped up the school year competing in the UIL Academic State Meet in Austin with one becoming the 3A headline writing champion and another taking the 5A bronze medal in physics.

Comal ISD began offering esports just three and half years ago and recently was awarded the School District of the Year award for its program which promotes teamwork, develops skill and offers students access to a nontraditional sport.

Five Comal ISD campuses have performed in the top 12 percent of schools in the state of Texas, making the 2023 Honor Roll list. This annual Honor Roll recognizes successful schools that are preparing students to be successful in the workforce and in life.

Fifteen Comal ISD baseball and softball athletes ended their high school careers at various all-star games.

In May, four Comal ISD high schools hosted a final signing day for 11 student athletes who committed to play the sport of their choice at the collegiate level. While traditional sports were included so were non-traditional ones such as lacrosse and esports.

Four Comal ISD students have been named National Merit Scholars receiving scholarships through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, and an additional student is a National Merit Finalist.

Comal ISD hosted signing days across the district prior to the end of the school year with graduating seniors choosing to pursue their passions in music, theater, art and trades such as construction, welding and more.

Nominated by campus administrators, five recent Comal ISD graduates are among the 43 high school students from Texas' 21st congressional district to receive the Exceptional Senior Award from Rep. Chip Roy.

Annually, Comal ISD hosts a banquet for the top academically ranked students in each high school along with educators who they choose to honor. This event highlights the impact that one teacher, coach or bus driver can make in the lives of the students they see every day.
